Space Sickness |

Description: The weather outside has been miserable, which I like. But it makes getting outside shots a bit tougher. This isn't anything fancy, but I do kinda like how it turned out and it's been a while since I've posted something. I also just got this v1 Countdown and he's great! I had him as a kid, but I forgot how cool he looks with his helmet and backpack on.

Countdown's really a nice astronaut figure. He gets grief for being as astronaut. But, Hasbro pulled out all the stops on him.
I first got that Ozone at a KB Toys Outlet in either '95 or '96. I bought him in quarters since I was so broke. That's a great way to get him. He's a pretty nice figure, but I am biased toward the character. I actually got mine in 93 or 94, and this is my childhood figure. My Mom made me catch chicken pox from some kid, and it was a miserable time. She eventually felt bad and got me Ozone and the Sonic Boom Tank to keep my mind off of it. We also watched Free Willy. That movie still makes me think of chicken pox. But Ozone doesn't.
Great idea for a pose! Unfortunately for my daughter, this was her 6 times on our 12 hour round trip to Maine this week, so....it's topical to me. Yikes! I hope she and your car are both feeling better!
Great posing! Countdown is a fairly cool figure, and shows me that Hasbro could do cool figures in other styles. It's a shame they had such an aversion to using the Joe scale and construction for non-Joe lines.
Also, whenever I see Ozone I think of that joke you made about Earth First! and Judi Bari on your old blog, but I don't actually remember the damn joke. So I might just be laughing at and associating Ozone with, a car blowing up. hahahaha! I do love the idea of Ozone as an Eco Terrorist for some reason. and yeah, it seems like other product lines could learn a lot from the Joe design team. It worked on Visionaries and COPS! Imagine how much better Marvel Universe would have been with Joe construction. Though those figures were legitimately very good for a while.
The set works well for space figures, and you nailed the posing! I like Countdown quite a lot as well, but using him in photos is a challenge. Thanks! I wish I hadn't done such a lazy cropping job on this version, but I only noticed it after I uploaded it. Oh well! |
