Stinger Driver
Description: The Stinger Driver is a figure that really fell off the radar in the last 15 years or so. At one point they were a highly popular figure, likely due to sharing the Officer mold, at a time when the COBRA Officer was rarely seen. However it seems at some point people had their fill of the Stinger Driver and he's never really seen all that often anymore.

In some respects, it makes sense as the Officer mold did get some pseudo use over the years, and the combo of the 25th Stinger being impossible to find and the Retro Stinger being terrible. Still, it's a figure I used to take a lot of photos of, as did others, and now it's about as obscure as Short Fuze.

I aways thought the stinger driver was cool, the light grey was something different and it used the great cobra officer mold.  I've only had two of them for the longest time.

There's been a real radical shift in the tastes of Joe collectors compared to years ago. Just today I was grabbing a few things from the Black Major, only to find that he was sold out of his more recent Eco Warrior customs, while the Night Force ones were still in stock. It's weird, because I don't think the demographic has changed, but it seems more people favor exotic figures from the 90's and abroad as opposed to the classics that have run their course.

I remember them getting real cheap around 2010 or so.  I bought a bunch.  But, many of them have discolored.  And, that's really soured me on them.

I've had some very random acquisitions from around then discolor too, personally I've been wondering if some of these were restored with peroxide. The drawback of that method is that it's only supposed to last a few years, so it could explain why some figures turn for no apparent reason.

I'm always amazed by the grassy blur you capture in the foreground of shots like this one.

I do wonder if all the Black Major Troopers have stolen the thunder of the early molds.  At one point, the Stinger Driver was your only alternative for them.  Now, you've got hundreds of choices.  With that variety, why go with the Stinger Driver?
