Theme Week - Chuckles |
|
Description: When I was a kid, we had two GI Joe TV trays with a glorious painted scene of Falcon, Chuckles and Recondo rushing into battle from a landing Tomahawk. I later found out that Roadblock was part of the scene too, but only visible on the version of the painting seen on a trashcan. This is an attempt to recreate the scene, minus the USS Flagg in the distance, and the Conquest and Dragonfly overhead. (I have a version with the Conquest and Dragonfly added in, but it doesn't look great) I wish I'd had the foresight to spray paint some poly-fil tan, because I usually prefer practical effects to digital, and I'm not real satisfied with the dust. Setup took too long, which resulted in the problems with shadows, too.

Great scene! I hear you on the shadows, it's often a challenge to get a scene set up before losing the light. But the silhouetting of the Tomahawk worked out really well! Thanks! The Tomahawk is such a great vehicle, it's really hard to take a bad picture of it.
Fantastic shot! I love the look of the sand and how nicely detailed those poses are. I think the dust clouds look pretty convincing too. Thanks! I think my favorite poses ended up being the Marines disembarking the Tomahawk.
Really nice set up. I get a feel for the art you were replicating with the photo, so mission accomplished on that front! Thanks! It was a fun target to aim for. |
