Description: "Y'know rook, it must've been back in the summer of 87 or...no, 88, it was the summer of 1988. Sweltering hot day, 'bout noon I got the call. Another body. I was the first on the scene, then the lieutenant. Turns out, the stiff was some freak in a bird suit. The things you see, right? But then, get a load of this, the murder weapon, was right there, lyin' on the ground--it was a ninja sword! The guy had been run through with a real life katana. Like in the movies. So me and the lieutenant, we're looking at this, weirdest murder scene we ever saw. Then the Army guys showed up. One was an MP, but the other one...the guy is wearing a Hawaiian shirt and says he's CID. But the lieutenant, he tells me later, the look in that guy's eyes, just like the CIA spooks he met in 'Nam. Anyway they asked lots of questions, then suddenly pulled rank and took over the scene. They had a letter from the president--yeah, Ronnie Reagan, like I could make this up! Signature and all. So that was that. I checked last year, no records on that case. Like it never happened. Sometimes I still wonder, what happened to that poor bastard in the bird suit? Is there some sick fuck out there still killing people with swords? What a city, rook. What a city."
