Blue Cobra Mortal - Theme Week
Description: BM's first post Cobra Trooper foray was the V1 Snake Eyes mold.  At the time, BM sold lots of Troopers for like $6 or $7 each.  Usually, it was lots of 5.  But, with the Snake Eyes figures, the lots didn't make as much sense.  But, he sold a ton of the figures individually.  That included all of his chrome head figures.

This figure sold for quite a bit for a while.  Usually ending in the $20-$30 range...an absolute mint at the time.  But, eventually, it came down and I snagged one of these blue ones for just under $10 or so.  Around the same time, I got both a regular head Red Shadows version and a chromed head Red Shadows figure, too.

But, it's the blue one that resonated with me.  The really dark blue wasn't all that common on his figures: it still isn't.  But, it's a solid match for vintage Hasbro blue.  And, the chromed head made for a better Cobra Mortal than the brittle club version.

In the years since, this fig has grown on me more and more.  The blue still resonates.  And, once chrome heads became less common, the figure was able to better withstand the onslaught of future releases.

You don't see this guy much.  In the years since, he's all but disappeared.  But, I still really like him.  The blue matches the black of the early Cobra vehicles.  But, he is also a great juxtaposition against the red vehicles that came later.

It was down between this guy and the "Purple Haze" Invasor.  This guy won because I think I'd use the purple figure more often were it not a Cobra.  But, if I was getting rid of all my figures, this guy would be among the last to go.

Another great figure. The De A?o and Invasor/Mortal figures were probably his best from a quality perspective. None of the issues from the Troopers or CGs.

TBM doing the Mortal really gave that character more life, especially considering how lame the Convention one was, and was hated at the time

He does look cool.  The blue is spot on.

I had a non-chrome red version of this guy, and to be honest I hated it.  The arms were way too loose and floppy.

I almost picked the non-chrome version of this one as my favorite. The blue plastic matches almost perfectly with Hasbro's Cobra Blue.

I like seeing him out with the Stinger!
