2004 Night Force Short Fuse
Description: Today's new profile looks at the 2004 Night Force Short Fuse figure:

This Downtown repaint might be the highlight of the set.  But, I'm not sure how much that's worth.

The photo above was taken right after the figure's release in 2004.  I didn't have a spare black mortar at the time.  So, he got the gold version from the Sonic Viper.  It only took me 20 years to get around to writing about him as the photo shoot was meant for a profile back in 2004.  But, I went with Beach Head instead.

I have no real opinion on the 2004 Night Force set, I have spent time looking for Beach Head and Flint, but refuse to pay more than $15 for them, since they were released at least twice!

I remember when that set first came out, it was at the same time as the cobra infantry 6 pack.  I was very lucky to get an infantry set in the ToysRus store.  I played around with that set until I practically wore them out and had to replace them years later with a new one from ebay.

At the time, the night force set did not interest me, so I never picked it up.  I can remember seeing it on the pegs for a while.  For some reason I just thought the night force set looked weird.  In hindsight, it was probably a better set than some of the later ones.  To me, the figures in sets like this only really look right when you have them all together.  On their own or when paired with others they just look out of place to me.

Old photos like this really take me back now. What kind of camera were you using in 2004?

Also, looks like Flint's using Downtown's pistol. That little revolver is slick.

I used a SONY back then.  I forget the model.  I still have it somewhere.  My wife gave to me for Christmas of 2000.  It was 2 megapixels and was still the best camera I've ever used.

Flint's holding a black, resin version of his shotgun.  I got them from a guy named Raven_Viper back in like Jan or Feb of 2001.  They were the 1st reproductions/customs I recall.  He did a bunch of weapons and charged $1 each.  I got like 20 different weapons, but just one Flint weapon.  He disappeared shortly after, though.  And, no one remembers him.
