Description: 1991 Rock and Roll
A recent purchase as I sold my figure years ago. But, I kept his entire batch of accessories. He was harder to find than I thought. But, also still pretty cheap.
The background vehicle is a missile launcher from the Sunny Days line. It's cheap. But, also really nice. My kids got it and a few other vehicles for Christmas and I need to use them in some pics before they destroy them!

Excellent shot. Like Kurt, the '89 Rock N Roll mold is one I've overlooked. I'll look into picking up both uses, one of these days! That's a mold that really could've used a repaint. We should have had 2 more repaints of him.
The 2001 HQ figure was supposed to be this Rock and Roll. But, for some reason, Hasbro returned the mold to Funskool before it could be used. Funskool didn't really understand why Hasbro sent back a mold they had just recalled. But, they planned to release a new version of him in 2004. However, the Funskool line was cancelled before it happened so that R&R never came to be, either. |

So that's whose gun was poking into that shot with Long Arm, Bulletproof and Headman. No wonder I didn't recognize it.
For whatever reason the '89 R&R mold is one I've overlooked for a long time. I will say the customs that Outrider did by swapping their legs around and repainting a few bits did wonders.
Good eye on the other pic! The green and brown on this figure are amazing. Were the orange a different color, this would be the preferred R&R. |

I've seen that missile launcher around a few times before. It looks really tempting, but I'm not sure if it's worth the space it might take up, what's your opinion on it?
I have this guy minus the parts, which is a shame since I think that gun looks like the best thing about the figure. It's a really detailed sculpt.
The missiles not be removable makes it seem kind of cheap. But, it was like $16 and came with some figures and gear. So, it is cheap. The interior is detailed well enough and the launcher raises and lowers. I'm hoping to get some more shots of it with the Oktober Guard this weekend. But, for the price, it's well worth it if you have the room.
The Super Sonic Fighters weapons are really nice. R&R's weapons, though, are a weird soft plastic. Very different from other Joe gear. It's too bad they never used this guy's or Road Pig's weapons with other figures in better colors. They're all great designs. |
