Hello Guest

Shadow Tracker
Description: I recently acquired the o-ring Shadow Tracker and I've been thinking about characterization, loosely inspired by Mike T.'s and R.T.G.'s takes on the character on their blogs. It strikes me that lots of early Cobras (Bludd, Firefly, Tomax, Xamot, Wild Weasel, maybe Destro, heck even Storm Shadow in Vietnam) have ties to the wars of decolonization, but they're all Americans or Europeans. I picture Shadow Tracker operating and recruiting for Cobra in Africa and Asia in the early 1980s, but sometimes even his own recruits are horrified by how far he'll go. This is how I imagine his file card:

Code Name: SHADOW TRACKER
Birthplace: Katanga Province, Zaire
Primary Military Specialty: Terrorism
Secondary Military Specialty: Helicopter Pilot

Subject's father was a cabinet member in the short-lived Katangan Republic. Dropped out of Swiss boarding schools to fight for Third World liberation. Trained by Red Army Faction and the PFLP. Fought in Rhodesia, Angola, Cambodia; wounded at Entebbe. Qualified Expert: FN FAL, AK-47, M3 Grease Gun, RPG-7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scarlett says: "Destro has his honor, Major Bludd has his price, and Shadow Tracker has his cause. For him the West is the enemy, and the Soviets are no better. Third World governments are their puppets. This makes him useful to Cobra. Oh sure, the Baroness talks the talk about revolution, but everyone knows she's a European aristocrat. Shadow Tracker walks the walk. We’re just not sure if Cobra gets that his idea of revolution is burning the world down."

I don't know if you've ever seen the scans on Yo Joe! where some characters had Marvel UK equivalents of the old Order Of Battle profiles. Click on the "Intelligence Profile"

Thank you! I had never seen these, they're exactly the kind of extensions to the universe that I like.

Nice! I really like this portrayal of Shadow Tracker. He looks really good with that FN FAL too, I'll probably steal that combo when I get around to using mine.

Great photo. The posing really tells the story. Also you did a stellar job on that filecard, it's on-brand! I like the storyline about him doing the "Son of bourgeoisie, rebelling and putting in work for the common man".

I'm glad you liked my take on the character, G.I. Joe is fun in that you can apply pseudo realistic motives to the characters, without really having to change all that much.

Wild Weasel's really expands on the bush war aspect

Darklon's rules, because he's responsible for the deaths of MILLIONS of people, but he's still Darklon, so who cares! https://www.yojoe.com/action/89/darklon.shtml
