Description: Finally got a chance to take advantage of some decent weather to test my new building with our favorite CIA agent.
Unfortunately I discovered later when putting him away that both of my Chuckles have a crack on the left side of their torsos. Anyone else seen this issue before?

I doubt it's the holster, mine has the same crack, and I've never had the holster. How far does yours extend? Mine goes from the seam to the pink flower.
Mine's the same, from the seam to the flower. I don't think it's the holster either.
Too tight an o-ring pulling stressing the plastic?
NuSculpt era is rife with cracked torsos from the neck down, I thought head sculpts had something to do with it, but I'm wondering if it isn't caused by the pull of the o-ring on the inside post and the stress makes a crack that "exits" on the neck.
It's not just nusculpts, the comic pack figures are catastrophe. I gave up and disassembled my gas mask Cobra troopers, as most of them got the cracks. Fun hobby.
I don't think it's an o-ring issue, the o-ring post is on the back half of the torso and none of those are cracked.
The neck crack issue is really bad on some of the nusculpt stuff, I've seen it on figures still sealed in their two packs. Even DTC figures are having this problem. I don't know if it's a design flaw or a bad materials problem.
Comic pack figures have really deteriorated recently. I've had legs shatter, torsos crack, discoloration, you name it. |

I don't store him with the holster on, but that could be an explanation for it. I even checked the Chuckles in my father's collection, and even his has crack beginning to form in the same spot. On both of mine it's in the same spot, one even has a crack on both sides. This is only happening on the front half of the torso rather than the back half, and the crack goes all the way through.

That building and those boxes are fantastic Scarr!
I need to double check mine, but that's the first I've heard of something like that. Do you think the plastic reacted to his holster?
Thanks. The building was a fun project, I based it off one Outrider made from cardboard and paper. I have more planned. I made the boxes while working on the building, they were really easy to put together. The weathering is what really sells them.

Awesome shot!
I'm sorry to hear about your Chuckles torso. I had a weird one where the cylinder inside the outer thigh piece of Roadblock v1's left leg snapped off internally. It was really odd because I hadn't touched or used that individual figure in close to 8 months!
I had something similar happen with a 1994 flint torso, where the inside post broke off. |
