Ouch.  The last thumb I broke was a Chuckles years ago iirc.  Tried fitting a pistol in his hand that had a grip that was just too thick.  I'm much more cautious now.

I actually have discovered a secret when it comes to fitting weapons in vintage hands.  Heat the hand with a hairdryer.  It actually softens the plastic just enough to where you can adjust the thumb and get a better grip.  I only figured this out last year, I've never seen anyone else mention this before.

As for Destro v3, I've never owned one.  I do have the 2001 repaint.  It just doesn't hold a candle to the  v1 or v2.  This one had so much potential, but the proportions are all wrong.  Think that's what killed it for me.

That spring-loaded mine launcher on the Avalanche is actually quite fun! I can see why they gave Destro a “Scrap-Iron” esq one here👍

Darn! I like that gun, but the grip is on the thick end.

Coincidentally, I've been experimenting with making new thumbs for broken figures out of epoxy. Not sure how well it will hold, but it could be a decent way to preserve the figures as more of them get closer to 40 years old.
