Hello Guest

St. Cobra's Day
Description: “And lackeys on Cobra Island now a-bed / shall think themselves accursed they were not here / and hold their villainy cheap whiles any speaks / that fought the GI Joe Team with us upon this St. Cobra’s Day!” (I already posted this on Instagram, but thought I'd leave a higher-resolution version here. It's not my best picture but it's definitely the one I've spent the most time setting up.)

Very impressive rally shot, scenes like this are hard to shoot.

Awesome work.

How long did that take you set up?!?

Thanks! I actually did it twice, probably an hour each time. The first day it took so long to set up that I'd lost the light by the time I was ready. The soil was nice and soft though so everyone stood up ok (only a few had stands). I think dirt is easier to work with than grass, pavement, or even a table because it gives a little.

With the CAT, I think my inspiration for this shot was a combination of Kenneth Branagh's film version of Henry V, and seeing a picture of Boris Yeltsin on top of a tank in 1991. I figured, if you're gonna stand on a tank, stand on a TANK. Yeltsin didn't hop on a BMP, and Cobra Commander standing on a HISS wouldn't look quite the same.

It's tough to make large, group shots work.  You did a great job with this one!

I've always liked troop-rallies with Cobra Commander, and I have to say this is by far one of the most impressive I've seen! Looks like there's about 70 figures there? There's not many photos you'll find with that many figures in them.

The CAT makes such a beautiful centerpiece here too.
