Theme Week - Favorite Factory Custom |
|
Description: While army builders are great, I've found the factory customs that most resonate with me tend to be figures that are either meant to be or can be used as individual characters. Red Laser really excelled at this, even when the figures themselves were less than perfect.
The General is one of my personal favorites. I love a real look for Hawk that makes him stand out like the leader he was of the original 13. This is an older photo. I'll be taking a new one of my actual favorite factory custom later this week. But, The General deserves honorable mention as he's a figure I use time and time again.

| May 31, 2024, 07:32:18 PM I remember wanting to buy one of these when they were on eBay, but for some reason I never pulled the trigger. In fact, I never did end up buying any of the RLA figures, even though there were several I had interest in. It was either the pricing or the quality that kept me away.
This one always looked cool; I like the idea of having an alternate version of Hawk from OG 13 era. |

I think, where both Factory Custom makers kind of missed the boat, is that when using OG 13 parts, you kind of have to do those figures and characters, first. RLA had all the parts, but was too busy trying to recreate the glory days of Spy Troops.
I was always irritated when RLA bragged about releasing the 1997 Rock and Roll. But, it had Stalker's head. So, it wasn't the Rock and Roll unless you bought multiple figures to get the right parts. But, I'm sure one of the guys who hoards Stardusters mentioned that releasing a full 1997 Rock and Roll would "ruin the integrity of the line" or some B.S. and then go and try to dox Black Major. |

Oddly, I'm really not sure what my absolute favorite Factory Custom is. I'd be tempted to say it was one of the RLA figures from that big set he did, but I've always been mildly salty about the quality of those. |

There would be far less gnashing of teeth, when seeing the same 82-83 molds trotted out again and again, if it was possible to do 6 or 7 of the '82 Joes. |
