Hello Guest

Lampreys
Description: The 2000 Lampreys has a few design cues I'm not in love with, but it's still a figure I'd throw into the conversation for top 10 repaint era figures, probably even top 5.

I only ever managed to track down one of these Lampreys, and that was only because I got him with his submarine years ago off of ebay.

I love the colors on this version, they match the blue Undertows very nicely.  However, I don't like how on this version they tried to get away with coloring the forearms and lower legs all blue to lengthen the gloves and boots.  It doesn't look right.

It's a shame the lamprey mold didn't get more use in the 2000's.

The oily paint wipes didn't do these any favors.  But, the fact that they are a perfect color match for both the 2000 Undertow and the 2001 Sub Viper really elevates them.  You can set up a complementary Moray crew really easily.

I really wish I'd bought a few more of these and the Sub Vipers back when they were cheap.  (I think the Sub Vipers could be had from Asia.  I seem to remember Lampreys, too.  But, not 100% sure on that.)

The fake knee-boots look pretty lame, and the paint-wipes also dampen the look. Though, the colors are great with that in mind. It's a nice alternative to the original.

Great shot RTG, the lighting shows the perfect amount of detail.

I've never seen one of these Lampreys in person, but I've always liked how he looks in photos.
