| Theme Week 2 - Cobra Stinger |

Description: For this week's theme: the Cobra Stinger.
Our childhood Stinger didn't last too long before it got broken. So, don't have tons of memories of it. As a collector, I've gone through Stinger phases when I want a bunch and then I don't care anymore.
When I was trying to pose the figures for this shot I realized that the Stinger is about 5% too small. The driver and passenger are smushed and the the guys on the back are too close to really hang on...the whole missile blast thing notwithstanding.
I'm still not sure why the repaint era Hasbro team was Stinger adverse. The '98 Rattler was nice, but did kind of pegwarm. But, there's no world where a crimson or Cobra blue version wouldn't have sold like hot cakes in the army building madness of 2001 - 2004.
I still think there's overstock of these 2022 Stingers out there. Hasbro Pulse only got a limited stock. So, where's the rest? We know a bunch got dropped in Europe. But, that's still not enough. I still expect these to show up at a discount retailer this Christmas. Last year, I'd have tried to find a couple. But, now, I'm not so sure I'd spend the effort to get any more.

It's weird how fast these sold out and were never seen again.
I agree that there has to be overstock of them somewhere. I'd love to snag a couple of them for customizing if they ever turn up at ollies. | |

Funnily enough, I was going to use a different picture for the theme week, but it was too derivative (Same troopers on the back and everything!) of this one, so I went with the 98 Stinger instead. |

Nice shot! I forgot that the Retro Stinger even happened. I agree that there will probably be plenty of overstock popping up this year.

Good pick for a theme! Nice to see the Retro Stinger in action too.
Yeah, if I recall the 25th one scaled the design up about that much, which seemed like a major improvement. O-ringers fit almost perfectly in it, while ME figures fit like o-ring ones did in the original.
The release of the Retro Stinger was so weird: I was having a bad time then and didn't know about it until it had already sold out. Which was stunning, since most of the other Retro items languished so much longer. I thought they'd do more since this one sold out so fast, but it seems more likely it's some odd stock shenanigans. | |

That's a good combination of Retro Figures--and a drive-by is about the only good use for that terrible cut-down AK. You skipped the stickers? |
